A gym workout routine can be easy to achieve.
Have you always wanted to do a gym workout, but were not sure where to start? Do you feel intimidated by all of the tight lean gym bodies doing their
It is easy to become comfortable in the gym and enjoy doing your own
The first step is to join a gym. Choose one that is close to your work or home. The biggest factor in whether people use their gym memberships (most don't!) is how convenient it is for them to go to the gym. So it is better to find a gym that you drive by every day, then you will have no excuse for not working out, especially if you keep a gym bag and your runners always in your car.
Join a Gym
Talk to the member services person at the gym and get a tour. Find out what times are the busiest at the gym, and when is the slowest. Try to visit during one of the busier times (normally noon hour or right after work). That way you will get a sense of how busy the gym can be. If there are no cardio machines and your gym workout routine requires it or if there is a line up for all of the weights you will want to avoid coming during peak hours.
Also, be sure that the equipment looks well maintained, and that the gym and change rooms are clean. Decide if you want a basic gym with limited amenities, or if you would like to pay more for a premium membership where the gym has fitness classes, a pool, steam sauna, and spa. For the most part a gym workout routine does not require a whole lot of equipment. If you enjoy
then the latter may be your best option.
If you like the gym, and decide to purchase a membership, try to get them to throw in a free personal training session so that you can get acquainted with all of the equipment and test your gym workout routine. Most gyms do this for their clients but you may have to ask. When you have your training session, be sure to ask lots of questions and get comfortable with the layout of your gym, and all of the machines. Trainers enjoy lots of questions, and this is YOUR time so make sure that you use it!
Your Workout Schedule
Try to make it to the gym 5 days a week. Depending on your fitness goals, do 30 minutes of cardio 3 to 5 times a week, and do weights 2 to 3 times a week. If the gym is busy, it is OK to ask people if you can work in with them on their weights, most are happy to do that. Also if you have any questions, just ask someone else who is working out. People at the gym are generally very friendly and they do not mind helping a beginner at all!
You will have to decide what time of day is best for you to workout. Some people enjoy the morning workouts so that they start their day off on a healthy note. Others like to work out after work to get rid of their stress from the day. Whatever time you feel your best, make sure that you get to the gym and use that energy in a positive way!
